At the last business meeting of the Arizona Independent Redistricting Commission, David Can't Tell Me dropped a bomb hoping to ignite a new astroturf controversy surrounding selection of an online mapping tool for public input in the process. The UNfair Trust mouthpiece outrageously claimed the proposal from Azavea Inc. amounts to allowing a "far left" group to subsidize the Commission. Part of his irrational rationale was that the Arizona Competitive Districts Coalition, which sponsored the Azavea developed Redistrict Arizona, is a "far left" group.
Like the only people who want to see common sense restored to the Arizona Legislature from the "far left?"
Of course, the fact that numerous Republicans, Libertarians and Independents established profiles on the mapping tool is completely irrelevant when your objective is nothing more and nothing less than to scare people in hopes of distracting and undermining the work of the AIRC. Thus far, UNfair Trust has not been successful in that endeavor. Only fools will expect them to stop trying, however.
To allow for transparency in this procurement, the proposals have all been posted on the AIRC website.
